The Native Hawaiian Education Council (NHEC or Education Council) completed its NHEC 2011 Needs Assessment Report in September last year and submitted its initial publication to the U.S. Department of Education. Members of the Education Council participated in a series of work sessions, discussions and follow up over a 14-week period reviewing, analyzing and interpreting data, reports and studies to assess the educational needs of our Native Hawaiian population.
This publication will help provide the U.S. Department of Education with respect to the Native Hawaiian Education Programs (NHEP) under the Elementary, Secondary Education Act (ESEA), Title VII, Part B – Native Hawaiian Education Act (NHEA) taken under advisement prioritizing the funding of such programs over the next three years.
